How to Create a Pricing Structure for Your Cleaning Business: Tips from a Professional Cleaner
Are you struggling to come up with a pricing structure for your cleaning company? Look no further! At my company, we have an hourly pricing structure where we charge $40 per hour per cleaner. But, that's not all. We also have a Residential Building chart that helps us determine how long it actually takes us to complete each item in our services for different rooms.
We initially created the chart for residential homes, but we've also adjusted it for our commercial complexes when needed. I suggest you do the same for your company. Here's how you can do it:
Create an Excel spreadsheet with a list of all the rooms you come across in a home, including bedrooms, bathrooms, half baths, offices, living areas, dining areas, and kitchens. In the next column, list out the corresponding time it takes you to complete each item based on the service you're providing.
If you don't have a chart like this yet, don't worry. You can use ours, which is included in our course. But, if you're not ready to invest in a course like that, you can build it from scratch. Simply time yourself or have your team time themselves in every area of the home to see how long it takes to complete each item.
To get an accurate average number, I recommend doing this for a month or so and splitting it between your initial clean and subsequent cleans. The subsequent cleans are always different from the initial clean, so you want to account for that.
Once you have your chart, break it down based on your service menu and add-ons. Make sure your add-ons are listed in their own category, so you can pick and choose them as the client picks and chooses them. This will help you include them in the quote.
At my company, we've been able to streamline our bidding process using this Residential Building chart. It has saved us a lot of brain power and allowed us to quickly and accurately calculate our bids. If you're struggling with pricing, I highly recommend creating your own chart. It may take some time, but it's worth it in the end!
